This winter, the ESAP Coalition has continued to support prevention efforts in the community. Twice per year, alcohol compliance checks are conducted by the police department to ensure that bar, restaurant and retail staff are properly asking for identification to verify age requirements ensuring alcohol is sold only to adults age 21 or older. This December, 100% of the establishments selected passed the compliance checks and NO violations were cited. The ESAP Coalition hand delivered certificates of compliance to each establishment. Thank you to our local businesses who are committed to providing barriers to youth alcohol use in Evanston! Other community efforts include partnering with First Night Evanston for a successful New Year’s Eve celebration, attending St. Nicholas’s event for Spanish speaking families about prevention of alcohol in the Latino community, volunteering at Snowflake at Haven Middle School and attending the CADCA National Leadership Forum in Washington, DC.
