Evanston Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition Kicks Off April’s Alcohol Awareness Campaign

On Thursday, April 7, 2016 from 4:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M., the Evanston Substance Abuse Prevention (ESAP) Coalition will visit local retail liquor establishments to hang materials for the “YOUR ACTIONS MATTER!” Alcohol Awareness campaign, a statewide initiative developed by the Illinois Liquor Control Commission, to help prevent underage drinking. Volunteers will be visiting Evanston businesses to deliver and post “YOUR ACTIONS MATTER!” Alcohol Awareness campaign materials reminding patrons to “think, decide, prevent” before purchasing alcohol for underage consumption.

The ESAP Coalition’s mission is to increase the health of Evanston youth by preventing alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use through community-level strategies. The “YOUR ACTIONS MATTER!” Alcohol Awareness campaign’s mission is to remind businesses of the risks involved with selling alcohol to minors and patrons of the risks involved with purchasing alcohol on their behalf.

The ESAP Coalition would like to thank in advance businesses that sell or serve alcohol for their commitment to keeping Evanston youth alcohol-free. Preventing underage drinking is a shared responsibility among adults, youth, law enforcement and retail stores alike.
